What is Airborne Pathogen Awareness
This invaluable EFR Airborne Pathogen Awareness course has been designed to educate participants on the dangers posed by numerous airborne diseases, from influenza and SARS to COVID-19 or tuberculosis. Learn about how these pathogens are transmitted through the air, as well as methods for minimizing your risk of infection with disinfection strategies and protective equipment such as face masks!
Importance of Airborne Pathogen Awareness
Airborne pathogen awareness training is important for a variety of reasons. It helps to ensure that employees are aware of the potential risks associated with airborne pathogens, as well as their roles and responsibilities to help minimize those risk. This type of training also provides first aiders with the necessary information to recognise signs and symptoms of disease caused by airborne pathogens, and how to properly prevent and control exposure.
Duration
This Airborne Pathogen Awareness is designed to help you understand the risks posed by airborne pathogens, and it can be completed in just three hours. It's a comprehensive program that combines both theory and practical activities!

What is Airborne Pathogen Awareness
The EFR Airborne Pathogen Awareness course is designed to equip lay providers with the essential knowledge and skills to reduce the risk of disease transmission in the workplace. Participants will learn about the main mechanisms of disease transmission and how to implement effective measures to reduce the risk of transmission. The course covers topics such as the proper application and removal of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe disposal of hazardous waste, and reporting and logging procedures.
The course offers a blend of theoretical and practical instruction to ensure participants are equipped with both the knowledge, and the hands-on skills, necessary to prevent the spread of airborne pathogens. By the end of the course, participants will be able to explain and identify the two primary mechanisms of transmission and the importance of implementing measures such as disinfection, protective equipment, distancing, and airflow.
Additionally, upon completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate, demonstrating their understanding and readiness to protect themselves and others from airborne pathogens in the workplace.
