What is Primary & Secondary Care with AED

The Primary and Secondary care sections are undertaken by a combination of classroom teaching with plenty of practical exercises to allow you, the student, time to become comfortable with the skill. We want everyone to walk away from this course with the willingness to apply the skills learnt in the unfortunate event of being faced with a life-threatening emergency.

Importance of EFR Primary and Secondary Course

The Emergency First Response (EFR) Primary and Secondary Care course with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid, along with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training, is of significant importance for several reasons:

Life-Saving Skills: The course equips individuals with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively in emergency situations, potentially saving lives. It focuses on primary care skills such as CPR, which is crucial for maintaining blood flow and oxygenation to vital organs during cardiac arrest or respiratory emergencies. Secondary care skills include providing first aid for injuries and illnesses are also covered.

Immediate Response: In emergencies, the first few minutes are critical. EFR courses emphasize the importance of rapid and appropriate response. By receiving training in CPR and first aid, individuals become capable of initiating essential life-saving measures promptly, improving the chances of survival and minimizing the risk of complications.

AED Skills: Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are devices used to deliver an electric shock to restore normal heart rhythm in cases of cardiac arrest. EFR courses often include AED training, teaching participants how to safely and effectively use this life-saving device. Knowing how to operate an AED can significantly increase the chances of successful resuscitation in cases of cardiac arrest.

Duration

The EFR Primary and Secondary Care First Aid training program lasts for a minimum of six hours consisting of theoretical and practical work. An EFR Primary and Secondary Care e-certificate will be issued to all successful candidates.

Assessment

No formal assessment is performed on this course, although the trainer will continually observe and monitor all candidates throughout, along with a multiple choice question paper. An EFR Primary and Secondary Care e-certificate will be issued to all successful candidates, which is valid for 2 years

What is Involved in EFR Primary & Secondary Care with AED

Widespread knowledge of CPR and first aid within a community creates a culture of preparedness and resilience. In emergency situations, the more people trained in these life-saving techniques, the higher the chances of immediate assistance being provided to those in need. By fostering a community of individuals capable of responding effectively, EFR courses contribute to a safer and more resilient society as a whole.

The EFR Primary and Secondary Care with CPR and First Aid, along with AED training, plays a crucial role in empowering individuals to respond effectively to medical emergencies. By equipping people with life-saving skills, these courses have the potential to save lives, minimise complications, and create safer communities.

The EFR: Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) with AED course covers a range of important skills that are crucial in emergency situations. In the course, you will learn primary care skills such as assessing the safety of the scene, taking universal precautions, conducting primary assessments, managing the airway, performing rescue breathing, and administering Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for cardiac emergencies. You will also learn how to handle conscious and unconscious obstructed airways, manage serious bleeding, address shock, and handle spinal injuries.

The course also includes training on the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to restore normal heart rhythm, as well as an optional orientation on emergency oxygen use.

During the Secondary Care skills you will learn to assess injuries and illnesses, effective bandaging techniques, and splinting for dislocations and fractures. These skills are essential for providing immediate and effective care in emergency situations, potentially saving lives and minimizing complications.

A really good training course, very professionally presented by Tracy. I’ve been on lots of training courses over the years and too often they can be soporific! Tracy is one of those rare training professionals who can deliver training and keep a person interested all day! Great course. Highly recommended!
